Due to the predicted 95 degree weather for Sunday we are going to cancel this hike. Plus we found out many of the trails are closed due to a storm and lack of funding to fix them.

Our female only hikes are FOR women and LEAD by women! Expand your girlfriend circle by meeting up with local, young women who enjoy the outdoors.

For this hike we are heading to The Meadowlands which is right along the Atlantic Flyway. The Atlantic Flyway is one of three major routes that is used by migratory birds in North America. Expect to see many species of birds and waterfowl along the trail. This EASY hike is perfect for beginners as there are very few ups and downs yet you will be rewarded with water views and skyline views.



Member Cost:
$5 for the first 5
$10 for the next 6 to 25
$20 at the door

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door.

Specs:
This is an easy hike perfect for beginners.
It is 2.5 miles long and should take 1 to 1.5 hours.
As with all hikes you must be in good athletic shape.

What to bring:
Water and good walking shoes.
We recommend sunscreen, bug spray and a light snack/small lunch.
Camera and binoculars if you have them.

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. All sales are final.

Hike Leader:
Jenn will be leading this hike. This hike will start on time so please arrive on time. If you think you might get lost leave extra early.

How to find the group:
Meet outside in front of the Meadowlands Environment Center after you park.

Directions:
Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 16W and proceed west on N.J. Route 3. Take the exit for N.J. 17 south. At the traffic light at the end of the ramp, turn left onto Polito Avenue and follow it to its end at Valley Brook Road. Turn left onto Valley Brook Road and continue for 1.5 miles to a railroad crossing. Bear left just past the railroad crossing and enter Richard W. DeKorte Park. Tell the guard at the gate you are there to view wildlife.
