Get out and enjoy Indian Summer with NJYPs on Baldpate Mountain. The trails offer a uniquely challenging terrain often lacking in central Jersey hiking, and can certainly serve to challenge participants who are looking for something different. Depending on the route chosen, the Delaware River, the Philly skyline (haze/weather permitting), and historic farm properties are all sights that can be seen while hiking here.

Member Cost:
$5 for the first 10
$10 for the next 11 to 25
$20 at the door

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door.

Specs:
The hike is classified as moderate. The total length of the hike will be about 5-6 miles long and we will walk at a moderate pace. Ascents and descents can be steep and tricky in places, and depending on recent weather, mud/puddles are potential issues. If stone steps are encountered on the trail, use extra caution when navigating them, especially if carrying a pack.
The hike will be about 6 miles long and should take around 3 hours.
As with all hikes you must be in good, athletic shape.

Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. All sales are final.

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
Maren will be leading this hike.

What to bring:
Hiking boots and water (required).
Sunblock and bug spray recommended.
We recommend a light snack or lunch, tissues, plastic bags for garbage, and similar items.

Inclement Weather:
Heavy precipitation will cancel this hike; drizzle will not. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded. Extreme heat may also cancel this hike.

How to find the group:
Meet at the Pleasant Valley Road Parking lot. The well-marked entrance driveway is on the south side of Pleasant Valley Road, 1.2 miles west of Bear Tavern Road.

Directions:
206 South, to 202 South, to 31 South, to local roads. It is tucked back a bit from any highways, unless people are coming off of route 29 (along the Delaware).
