Event Description

This beautiful hike in Chester Township runs along the scenic Black River, starting off by a historic gristmill, following an abandoned railroad grade for part of the way and passing through a spectacular rocky gorge.  With its contrasting sections of moderate terrain followed by the more challenging descent/ascent through the gorge, this hike is a great way to work off those chocolate bunnies you may have fallen victim to during April!  After the hike the group may go out for drinks and a late lunch.

I would love to do a beginner hike to start off ... I don't think I would make the 6.5 miles . . .but I will check this place out for a shorter hike in the future.

Bah! This is my hometown, but my ankle still isn't ready. :-(

If this hike goes well, please schedule another one later in the year. :-)

Hey, all - don't let the name of the hike fool you!  This is a beautiful, moderate Morris County hike that should make you happy you woke up early on a Saturday!
