Hike: Lord Stirling Park (easy)

Situated in a quiet little corner of Somerset County is a neat little park that offers a variety of scenery. Although very popular with bird watchers, Lord Stirling Park offers much more than just that. Nestled within this piece of the Great Swamp are several ponds, beautiful woodlands, fresh water marshes and beautiful meadows. Please join us in this peaceful walk through nature with good company!

After our adventure, we will optionally go out to eat for lunch.

Specs:
Skill Level- Easy; this hike is good for beginners!
Length- 5 miles in 2 hours.
Pace- Easy
As with all hikes you must be in reasonable athletic shape.



Member Cost:
$5 for the first 10 to buy a ticket
$10 for the next 11-25 to buy a ticket
$20 at the door (so please register online)

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
David will be leading this hike. David will not be waiting for late people. In fairness to those who arrive on time, the hike will start on time.

What to bring:
Hiking boots are strongly recommended and 2 liters of water is required. Hiking boots will help keep the mud out of your feet when hiking as the trail may have a few wet spots.

Inclement Weather:
Heavy precipitation and/or temps below 32 degrees will cancel this hike. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
Take 287 North or South to exit 30A. Follow North Maple Ave (it will become South Maple Ave) for approx 2.4 -2.6 miles and make a left onto Lord Stirling Rd. Follow that for about 1 mile and the park will be on the left.

Do not use the entrance on South Maple Ave, as those are only the stables.

Although this hike had to be postponed, the good news is that now you won't have to choose between our outdoor adventure and the parade!! I never like cancelling a hike, but I am glad I didn't miss out on the fun, lol....

planning on hitting the parade too. the hikers should come on out to morristown afterwards..
