Event Description

Come out and enjoy the spring air with a scenic, vigorous hike in the Highlands of NJ.  This hike sports a 360 degree mountain top viewpoint where we can see far-away hills, sparkling reservoirs and the NYC skyline as well as a beautiful waterfall (which thanks to a wet winter and spring, should be flowing very nicely!).  We will meet for an optional late lunch after the hike.

Specs:
The hike is classified as Moderate to Strenuous (depending on your fitness level) and is about 6 miles long.
The hike should take 3.5 hours.
As with all hikes you must be in good, athletic shape.

Sorry, Dave - I may see you guys at Norvin Green, but I'll be on the Hoya alumni hike. Just my luck to have a pick of 2 Norvin Green hikes on the same day!

It's going to be a really nice day on Saturday.  Sunny and 70 as of Wednesday!  Can't wait!

Hey Kevin, there will be a few notable uphill and downhill portions that can be strenuous.  The difficulty rating comes from the # of hills, difficulty of hills, trail terrain and overall distance.  Those that hike regularly challenging courses may think this on the top end of moderate and others will feel it is strenuous. I will always wait for the group at the top or a bottom of a significant hill, so if your worry is about being left behind, no worries.  As a reference, a number of hills will be noticeably more challenging than those at Tripod rock (steeper grade, longer distance on the hill).  Hope that helps!

...so, when we're talking "strenuous," do we mean very rocky or lots of up-hills and down-hills in this case?
