Event Description

Move over surfer dudes, the Young Professionals are taking over the beach and the waves! This event is for those who already know the ways of the ocean and those who are just starting out. We will be dividing up into two groups, basically the newbies vs the experienced surfers. In the end all will walk (or surf) away with new salt air loving friends.

EXPERIENCED SURFERS
Yes, we do mean those who do NOT need any sort of lesson. From 10:15 to 10:30 you will gather in front of Aloha Grove. Kevin and Peter (your hosts) will then lead everyone into the surf. If you do not arrive on time you will have a hard time finding the group so please be prompt. Aloha Grove rents out boards if you need one. If there is no surf this part of the event will be canceled (lessons below will not be canceled due to bad surf).

NEWBIES
From 10:15 to 10:30 you will gather in front of Aloha Grove. A group lesson is $35 per person for a 1 hour lesson and $70 for a 2 hour lesson. The price includes everything you need; all you need to do is show up in a bathing suit. To participate in this event YOU MUST CALL Aloha Grove and tell them you are with the NJYP Group (10:30am lesson). Let them know if you want 1 or 2 hours. If you wait to sign up it may SELL OUT. So call when you know you can commit. 732.263.0100

Had to get four stitches on my hand last night... First thing doc says: "Do not expose this to salt water."

Grrrreat. No surfing for me today!

Meet at 10:15 tomorrow in front of the store. They are having a sidewalk sale but still meet outside.

At 10:30 the group will divide up into those taking a lesson and those going right to surfing.

Alane...I wear contacts also. When I go out I leave them at home. So yes, I'm blind...I just look for the wall of water coming :) I guess you could wear them but you risk loosing one or getting an infection, although I know some people that will wear them. Maybe they have daily contacts?

I am interested in attending. I was away this week on vacation and was thinking about learning how to surf and then i came across this event. I am looking forward to learning something new

I am interested in attending, but one question I have is that I wear contact lenses. Do surfers wear swimming goggles over them while surfing, or is that not recommended??? Thanks for the info:D

Don't worry about it Marisa...I've never seen a shark (the sightings were further south anyway, LBI area and harmless)
