Branchbrook Park Cherry Blossom Festival, April 9-17

Spring is just around the corner, I hope...  so check out Branchbrook Park in Newark, NJ. It has one of the largest collection of cherry blossom trees, more than Washington, DC.

On April 17th is the Branch Brook Park Cherry Blossom Festival Bloomfest, there will be all kinds of activities, vendors and Japanese cultural events.

Please keep me posted on this! I love cherry blossoms. I am available Saturday, April 16th or Sunday, April 17th. I hope we can organize something for one of those days. If it is Saturday, early will be better. I'm attending the NJYP "Spring Fling" dance party at 8pm that night.

Perhaps we can all get lunch locally or do Sunday brunch before.

I would be interested in going to This.  Sounds like it would be fun! Sunday April 17th would be best for me as I'm participating in charity softball game and then going to the "Spring Fling" dance party the 16th.

Sunday sounds great! I just checked the site. It is free admission that day from 11-5. Most of the activities take place around the "Essex County Cherry Blossom Welcome Center." That sounds like a good place to meet if we go straight there.

That would be a good place to meet up. I'm assuming there is places to park over there?
Oh no! I didn't think about the parking situation. I've never been to this park. Sounds like "google maps" is in order! LOL

The Cherry Blossom are beautiful. I went to the park before and I saw all this beautiful trees, but i didn't know about the festival and the activities. I will try to go on Sunday 17th, but the best day for me will be the 16th.

One of the most amazing experience I have had...count me in
I'd also be interested in attending, especially if people wanted to take NJ Transit together from New Brunswick.

Sunday Program is out:  http://essexnjblooms.org/Documents/Bloomfest%20Program-FINAL.pdf

I think parking will be a problem, so I'm considering parking at NJIT near Warren Street station and taking the Newark Light Rail to the park.

That's a good idea taking Newark Light Rail, never taken that before.

I don't believe I've ever taken the light rail. It looks like Sunday, April 17th is the consensus? What time and location would everyone like to meet? I wouldn't mind being there at 11 to get a head start on the activities.

I believe April 17th is the day this will be. The earliest I would be able to get out there would be 12 since it is Palm Sunday that day.
