I was wondering if anyone would be interested in setting up a camping weekend now that the weather is getting nicer.  I have been camping many times and love it!  Maybe we could toss a hike into the mix as well?  Let me know your thoughts.

OMG that was so nice of you to offer to call! I can call. It's under your name? NJYP? Do you have the # handy? If it's not literally right by you I can find it no problem. :) I'd be so stoked to go camping for the first time!

We already made reservations :(. I am going to be upstate / out of cell range most of this weekend, but if you like you can call Harmony Ridge and see if they still have availability. I can call for you when I'm back Monday if you prefer.
when are you all going? Even i just saw this?
We're going June 11th and 13th. I don't know what the reservation is under, but you can see if they have any availability or if it matters if you book separately. The website is http://harmonyridge.com/
The more, the merrier!
thanks deborah :) so every one is taking friday off or folks leaving in the evening instead? do you know what the itinerary is like. Please share if you know
We reserved a site from June 11 - 13. You aren't allowed to check in until 5pm, so we will be heading there sometime later in the evening. From what I understood, 3-4 tents is the limit for a site. So, if you guys want to join us (the more the merrier!) it's probably best to book your own and ask if it can be near ours (send me a PM and I will share details. It's under my name). When you book, they will ask for a credit card and take the first night's deposit. It is $15 per person / night.

Hope this answers everything!

I did some research about hiking while we're there. Since it's nearby, I would love to hike a small piece of the Appalachian trail. I found one hike suggestion, starting in High Point State Park, that I think could be shortened into a 6 or 7 mile hike, but says its difficult (its given as a 10-mile figure-8 shaped hike). The distance seems doable to me (I used to hike a fair amount but am now dealing with knee issues).
Or, we could hike up to High Point Monument and back. It's listed as 3.5 miles (not sure if one way are up and back) and easy to moderate. Its fun to say you've been to the highest point in NJ, but there's also a parking lot right near the top, which can detract from the achievement in my mind!
If people lean one way or another, I'd be happy to try and buy an actual trail map and guide, but I'd rather buy just one.
I also looked into the night rides at the stables a few of us (including Rebecca) went to before. It's $60 each for a 90-minute trail ride and plus BBQ and entertainment (spot looked cool, as I recall). They say reservations are a must. I tried to call but couldn't get hold of a person. The place is 45 minutes away from the campground, according to Google. Everyone let me know if you want to do this and I'll try to make us a reservation.
Also, how do we want to handle food, ie who brings what? If possible, I'd like to get anything we need to bring this weekend.
Are people planning on sharing tents or should we all plan on bringing our own?
Hey,

Trying to get caught up with this..Did anyone else decide to join us? Also, I think after this we should move to a private message thread.

- I'm all for hiking, but I think I will pass on the horseback riding this time. I don't think it's worth the long drive and I am going to have my dog with me.

- As for food, I went camping over memorial day and everyone brought their own snacks (whatever they liked + enough to share). That worked well. For dinner, we had a stove for cooking over the fire. I don't have one of those, but if anyone does I'm all for that. Then we'd need to bring a cooler with some meats. I do have a small sterno stove, but I wouldn't feel comfortable cooking meat on it as I'm not convinced it gets hot enough. We can also get sandwich stuff if that's easier.

- I only have a single 2-man tent

We can move over to a private message thread to share supplies. Is there anyone who has decided to come that needs to be added?
