My parents have lived in Morris County for about 10 years now. And one of the things on my to-do list for about 10 years now is go to the Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill in Chester.

They're only open during the day; and my 10am - 5pm calendar is shot through the end of October. So I'm penciling this in on my calendar now...

Saturday, 04 06 Nov. 2010 (give or take)
- morning hike in either Hacklebarney or Schooley's Mtn.
- hot mulled cider at the mill
- lunch at the Long Valley Brew Pub

Lemme know if anyone is interested in any part of this; and I'll keep you in the loop.

"Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill is located in beautiful Chester Township New Jersey. A popular destination for all ages. Hacklebarney Farm offers our own wood pressed apple cider and homemade baked goods made daily in our bakery located on our farm.

Come to Hacklebarney Farm and browse our farm store which is located in our 1850’s barn, enjoy our famous CIDER DONUTS, Hot mulled cider, Cider Hot Dogs and Gelato. Gather on the great lawn under the 100ft. pines and toast the fall with a glass of just pressed cider."

...plus their bakery sells pumpkin cheesecake.

This sounds like fun, but I might be away that weekend. I'll follow along with the thread and let you know :)
This sounds like a great idea and i have always wanted to go apple picking. Saturday Nov. 4th works for me
Oh so cool - count me in & keep me in the loop...=)
Count me in love this time of year and I am a cider lover! =) It seems according to the website that applepicking is done at the end of October.
I am interested too.
I just checked out their website, seems like an awesome place...I'll follow this thread and get back to you when I know if the date works
I think I'd have to skip the morning hike, but count me in for the rest of the day. I love fall!
Hey, Andy. I had a good time at the lunch you organized this summer at Palace of Asia. If I'm free the weekend of November 6th, I'll definitely be there, at least for the hike and the hot cider.
Sounds like fun. Keep me posted.
What kind of a hike did you have in mind? (i.e., easy, moderate, or "iron-man" :) )
...Right now, I'm thinking about doing one of the loops through Schooley's Mountain. It's been a bunch of years since I've been through there, but I recall enjoying the walk along the creek; and I vaguely remember a pretty nice view off of one of the trials overlooking Long Valley...nothing terribly strenuous, but there probably are a few hills and a lot of rocks, so boots or some sort of ankle protection wouldn't be a bad idea.
