ReelAbilities: NJ Disabilities Film Festival

The Reelabilities: New Jersey Disabilities Film Festival will debut at 7 venues throughout New Jersey, including Kean University in Union, from March 13-17. The festival is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities.

More than 20 internationally acclaimed films will make their N.J. premiere at ReelAbilities. Each documentary, narrative and short film is a unique depiction of the lives and stories of the largest minority in America–-the disability community. Post-screening discussions and other engaging programs, performances and exhibitions bring together the community to explore, discuss, embrace and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.

I wish I had seen this earlier. I would definitely have gone. Hopefully they will do it again.

Did you go? How was it? I didn't know Kean did something like this. I went to college there and know the area well.

Hi Monica. I'm sorry you missed it. Yes, I did go... I actually lead the efforts to bring it to Kean and served as the Emcee and moderator :) In its first year in NJ, it was truly phenomenal - the feedback about the films and the special guests speakers (filmmakers, protagonists, experts, etc.) and the performances sprinkled in between were all great. I'm hoping to coordinate the 2nd annual next year.
