Event Description

Feeling cooped up and realizing the winter is not yet over?  Then come climb with us!  At this private Belay Certification Class the Members of NJYP will learn everything needed in order to climb and lots of hands-on practice with your instructor is guaranteed.  By the end of the 2 hours everyone will have new friends, a Belay Certification in hand and the chance to jump right into open climb.

Member Cost:
$35 per person
No Walk-in; online registration is required

Non-Member cost:
$40 per person
No Walk-in; online registration is required

Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. All sales are final.

What You Get:
* Instruction on rope management
* Hands on practice
* All the equipment you will need
* Stick around after the class to practice climbing

What to Bring/Wear:
Leave your valuables at home.
Wear clothing that allows you to move freely; think gym clothes.
Sneakers are required.
Bottled water is suggested (reusable bottles like those from Camelbak are great).

7:00 Lesson Begins
9:00 Open Climb!

How to Find the Group:
Ask staff for the private NJYP class once you arrive.

Sounds great! I've been wanting to try rock climbing for a while now. Does one need to have any experience?

Michael, just so you know you can't climb at Fairfield Rock Gym unless you take their class. The equipment is different and you won't pass...I just tried there yesterday :/

Just went for someones birthday to a place in Fairfiled. Had such a great time. I want to become certified so I can go solo and/or save $ when going with a group.

Nice, I wanted to go to the one in Chatham but it sold out. This is closer to my work anyway.

PS, After the class everyone is certified.  The next two times you come back, you get checked to make sure you remember everything from class; the checks are usually about two minutes.
