Event Description

Got Cabin Fever? Then join us on this quick winter hike that will take us through the woods, around a lake and past waterfalls. You will get good fresh air into your lungs and your heart will be pumping! At the end everyone will venture to a local restaurant for a warm lunch and hot drinks.

Specs:
The hike is classified as easy to moderate and is about 2 miles long.
The hike should take 1 to 1.5 hours.
As with all hikes you must be in good, athletic shape.

RSVP (to the right) and we will let you know when tix are almost gone, when prices are going up, if there are any changes, etc.

Member Cost:
$5 for the first 10 to buy a ticket
$10 for the next 11-25 to buy a ticket
$20 at the door (so please register online)

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door

Tickets:
There are a limited number of Tickets for sale.
Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door.
Actual hike is subject to change depending on weather conditions, fallen trees, etc.
All sales are final.

Sweeper:
If the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
Noah will be leading this hike.
Noah will not be waiting for late comers. In fairness to those who arrive on time, the hike will start on time.

What to bring:
Hiking boots are required.
Please bring 2 liters of water as well (yes, it is just as easy to dehydrate in the cold).
Please dress in layers that are not made out of cotton. Cotton, when wet, does not dry and can make you feel much colder. Synthetic fiber outdoor wear is always ideal in all weather conditions and all seasons.
Consider bringing a snack as well if you may get hungry while hiking.

Inclement Weather:
Precipitation (rain or snow) will cancel this hike. Also, the forecasted high for the day will have to be above 32 degrees and no standing snow cover on the ground. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
The entrance to the reservation is on Route 202 (Ramapo Valley Road), about two miles south of Route 17.

The Ramapo Reservation is a beautiful 2,145-acre site with mountain fishing, pond and scenic waterfall. The hike, with many ups and downs, leads past numerous scenic spots including Scarlet Oak Pond, the Ramapo River, and the MacMillan Reservoir. Our group will head up to a scenic waterfall on our way up to the Reservoir while possibly exploring a few abandoned 19th century houses along the way.

In addition, all are welcome to meet up at the Elm Street Grill after the event for food and drinks. Looking forward to seeing everyone! More info can be found here:
