Event Description

This Hike was postponed from 4/9 to 4/16 because of weather.

In the heart of Suburbia lies a beautiful piece of land set aside for us to explore.  While it is in the middle of Millburn, West Orange and South Orange, you would never know after just a few minutes of hiking within!  Witness 2 waterfalls, giant Rhododendrons and a pretty riverside walk as part of the adventure. Afterward those who have worked up an appetite will head out for lunch together.

Specs: Difficulty level is 2.5, http://www.njyp.org/page/hike-ratings
5 miles and will take about 3 hours. As with all hikes you must be in reasonable athletic shape.

Member Cost$7 online (first 5), $10 online, $20 at the door (so please register online)

Non-Member Cost$15 online, $20 at the door

Tickets: There are a limited number of Tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. Actual hike is subject to change depending on weather conditions, fallen trees, etc. All sales are final.

Sweeper: If the group is large we are going to look for 2 volunteers to act as sweepers. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader: DAVID will be leading this hike.

What to bring:
Hiking boots or sneakers
2 Liters of Water (required).
Snacks, a light lunch, etc.
Toilet paper, tissues, plastic bags for garbage, etc.

Inclement Weather: Most heavy precipitation will cancel this hike; drizzle may not. Please check your inbox for updates. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
Take 280 West until exit 10 (West Orange / Northfield Ave). At the end of the ramp, make a left onto Northfield Ave. Follow for approx 2.4 miles and bear right just past the dunkin donuts on the right hand side (you’ll see a sign that shows an arrow pointing to right saying Verona, and it’s a 1 way street).  Follow that 1 way to the end and make a left.    That will put you on Cherry Lane.  Follow that for almost a mile and then look for the Tulip Springs parking area sign on the left hand side of the road.  Pull into the 2nd parking area, about 200 feet to the right after you turn in.

How to find the group:
Meet in the 2nd parking lot.  When you turn off the main road into the Tulip Springs parking area, the 2nd lot is to the right about 200 ft.
We will not wait for latecomers.

The weather is not looking good :-( We'll try to update everyone tomorrow if we have to postpone the hike.

They are now calling for snow on Saturday :(  UGH!

Would this hike get cancelled if it is messy that morning?

There will definitely be more soon Grace!

Venus, the hike pass is usually only for the winter.

Are we not doing a hike pass this year / season?

Sounds good Julie, we look forward to having you!

Damien, I'll have to ask the hike leader David about that, but I'm guessing it will be the same trail or close to it.

I just moved to NJ from New England, and I love to be outside, so...pretty excited about this :)
